Part 2 of Antz Labour Hire

Why Antz? The process of picking out a business name is exciting but as the possibilities are endless – I spent hours thinking about a business name, wanting something catchy that would also have meaning behind the name. After a bit of research and endless scrolling on the internet I come across the habitual traits of ants – they are hardworking, team players and quite diligent in their work to build a colony – and their colony is run by a Queen. This was everything I wanted my business to stand by so I thought I would change the ‘s’ to a ‘z’ for a bit of jazz and so became Antz Labour Hire. Our army of work resources are your business solutions!

So, back to where we left off last chapter in business networking groups, how do I pick the right one for me? Well attending them is a good start and I put my big girl panties on and faced a room full of strangers to tell them about Antz Labour Hire. My first networking meeting was with BNI – a group full of enthusiastic and excitable business owners out to get results. I was getting business cards thrown at me left right and centre with services to help with my business – I was seeing stars as it was a lot of information to take in.

This group albeit great for established businesses I didn’t feel I was in the right calibre for this stage of community networking as I was still trying to work out my scope. My original plan was to specialise in administrative labour hire as this is my forte – I could labour hire myself out to be the guru of administration services – but was that enough to satisfy my thirst of entrepreneurship beginnings. What I was in need of was a business networking community that had a lot more educational opportunities in how to run my business once I got clients.

I had a recruitment agency contact me to do some temp work in recruitment and mobilisation and the client had been forwarded my resume and I was their number 1 pick of the bunch. I thought it couldn’t hurt but I on the condition it was temporary and that I could be paid through the business. This assignment was good to go, and Antz Labour Hire had it first lot of income! We had a win

I had arranged to attend another business networking group – this time it was District32 – got the big girl panties back on and out to face another new world of businesspeople. Breathe. As much as the room was filled with enthusiastic and excited people, I found D32 to be a bit less feisty (and I say this in a nice way) and they were more forthcoming in education on how to promote and operate your business to be able to move forward and succeed. I felt I had found the group to help get me started and I decided to sign up and learn about being in the business world.

In between temping myself out in Administration services and trying to get my business off the ground I was burning the candle at both ends as there wasn’t enough hours in the day to do both – so what do I sacrifice – an income for the business or business growth and development? So the voices in my head returned…. WTF am I doing?? Am I making the right decision in going forward with this business idea? What if I fail? What if my investment in this idea is drains every last cent of my freakin hard earnt savings? What happened to my work/life balance dreams that I had decided that I really needed…. Pass the wine bottle…..
